Obviously the earlier we start training ours dogs the better, however, our dogs are never too old to learn.
Sometimes we may need to work a little harder to undo any of the learnt behaviours, but as long as we consistently provide our dogs with the direction & repetitions required to learn new behaviours, we can continue to teach them throughout any stage of their life.
Jumping up is a common frustration that a large majority of dog owners experience.
Dogs can jump out of excitement, frustration and sometimes even from anxiety.
The best approach to dealing up with jumping up, is to establish a good foundation of control through obedience training and management.
This allows us to develop a communication system with our dogs, and establish and maintain a healthy set of rules and boundaries.
When it comes to pulling on the lead, this is not always directly linked to a lack of training, but more often than not leads back to the relationship that we have with our dogs.
Whilst training must be undertaken to educate our dogs on how to behave whilst on the lead, the pulling usually occurs because our dogs are more interested in everything else around them, rather than us on the end of the lead.
Through training, not only can we educate our dogs how to behave whilst on the lead, but also increase the perception of value in the relationship we have with them, making us more valuable than any other environmental factors.
Destruction/ or destructive behaviour most likely occurs because our dogs are lacking in physical, but also just as importantly mental stimulation on a daily basis.
It is so important that both forms of stimulation are addressed on a daily basis for our dogs, as one or the other on their own, leads to the following.
1. Too much exercise results in a super fit dog, and in most cases leaves the owners with not enough spare time in the day to satisfy their dogs needs.
2. Not enough exercise also is a problem, as it leads to an unhealthy lifestyle for our dogs.
Finding the balance of both mental and physical exercise is the key, leaving our dogs a lot more satisfied each day, and a lot less likely to be displaying destructive or problematic behaviour.
Barking is probably one of the most common behaviours that the majority of dog owners experience.
Barking can be caused by a number of different factors such as, attention seeking, frustration, anxiety, and fear just to name a few.
In order to deal with barking related issues, it is so important that we can firstly identify the cause of the barking, to select the ideal approach in modifying the behaviour.
A combination of different approaches including obedience, management, and independence training, as well as providing the direction our dogs need, provides the platform for getting on top of this particular behaviour.
We truly believe that training should begin the moment that your puppy arrives in your lives.
Ideally we would prepare before they arrive, so that we can manage them properly both when we are with them, and also when we are absent from them.
By engaging in training from the beginning, we can ensure that we can provide them with all the skills and guidance necessary, to not only make them a balanced member of the family, but also ensure that we don’t give them any opportunities to develop any unwanted behaviours.
Online training for puppies is ideal, as you can begin learning all of the valuable knowledge required before your puppy arrives, We can also begin training immediately from the comfort of your own home, without having to wait for your puppy to complete their initial vaccination schedule, and therefor not missing out on your puppies critical development period.
When it comes to training techniques, we believe that balance is the key, this way we can ensure that our dogs are motivated to learn using fun and fair methods, whilst still maintaining reliability of learnt behaviours at the same time.
Relationship is everything, and when it comes to training your dog, we need to ensure that we can provide you with a system that not only promotes your relationship with your dog, but also clearly provides your dog with the opportunities to see where their advantage lies.
Having our dogs understand consequences for both desirable, and also undesirable behaviours, gives them the control to choose the outcome that is best for them.
